Osteoarticular diseases are challenging to treat due to the limited regenerative capacity and avascular nature of cartilage, as well as the rapid clearance of intra-articular therapies.[1] Materials science provides promising strategies for localized and sustained drug delivery. For regenerative medicine, materials science and gene therapy hold great potential. [2] But its clinical translation is hindered by poor cellular delivery. Nanoparticles offer a solution to the limitations. [3] This work focuses on the development of a hydrogel platform for efficient intra-articular delivery of nanoparticles to enhance gene transfer to chondrocytes.
