Lipid mesophase nanoparticles (LMPs) are investigated as oral formulation strategies to modify their release behavior because of their characteristic internal structures. However, the gastrointestinal fluid contains abundant biomolecules, and those biomolecules have the potential to interact with nanoparticles and form a gastrointestinal corona. This corona becomes the biological identity of LMPs and regulates the biological response towards LMPs (1)(2). However, the link between the internal structure and the formation of GI corona is unexplored.
