Introduction: Chitosan nanoparticles (NB) can reduce the mucociliary clearance and disorganize the tight junction of mucosal epithelial cells, making them promising as a carrier for mucosal administration (1). Mannose has been associated with NB, due to its potential to increase the antigen presentation in vaccines (2). In this context, the present study aimed to understand the mucoadhesiveness of mannosylated chitosan nanoparticles developed as carriers to enhance a peptide antigen delivery for an intranasal vaccine.
Learning Objectives:
To comprehend the relevance of delivery systems for mucosal administration.
To learn how to evaluate mucoadhesiveness with the PAS method.
To understand the importance of mucoadhesion evaluation.
