Introduction:

Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a widespread neurodegenerative disorder where the loss of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra is connected to alterations of the protein α-synuclein (α-syn) and oxidative stress. Hence, the inhibitor of α-syn oligomerization Anle 138b (1-2) can be usefully combined to antioxidant substances with the purpose to provide synergic anti-PD effects. Therefore, in view of an intranasal administration, the current study aims at the in vitro evaluation of a nanoformulation where Anle 138b and the antioxidant vitamin C (vit C) are co-loaded.
