Melanoma is a lethal skin cancer mainly due to environmental factors associated to UV overexposure. The incidence of melanoma has been significantly influenced by human behavior in recent decades, and a weakened immune system, a high frequency of minor abnormalities, and genetic mutation are additional risk factors for melanoma [1]. With 100,000 new cases and 22,000 fatalities annually, cutaneous melanoma is widely regarded as a serious illness in Europe. Delays in diagnosis and treatment ineffectiveness are the causes of this high death rate [2].
