Development and Therapeutic Evaluation of Osthole-Loaded Nano-gel for Atopic Dermatitis

Introduction:

The active ingredients in natural Chinese medicines can alleviate the symptoms of atopic dermatitis (AD) with mild adverse reactions. Osthole (OST) is a component extracted from Cnidium monnieri, which has anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory effects. However, OST has extremely low water solubility, resulting in low bioavailability. In this study, TPGS-OST nanomicelles with small particle size and good stability were prepared, which were then encapsulated in hydrogels to prepare nanomicelle composite thermosensitive hydrogels (NMCH). NMCH was comprehensively evaluated in vivo for AD.

Learning Objectives:

We prepared OST micelle/Gels by optimizing the formulation process and compared their physical properties.
NMCH Gel showed multiple pharmacological effects, including antiinflammatory, immunomodulatory and skin repair.
