Chronic wounds arise when the inflammation phase of healing is disrupted, often due to impaired circulation and persistent infection. Conventional antibiotic‑releasing wound dressings place selective pressure on bacteria within the wound microenvironment, thereby promoting the emergence of antimicrobial resistant pathogens and complicating treatment1.
This study aims to develop an antibiotic‑free antimicrobial strategy by incorporating reactive‑oxygen‑species (ROS)-producing nanoparticles (NP) into electrospun wound dressings with the goal of reducing bacterial burden in the wound environment.
