Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) arises from the oral mucosa and severely affects quality of life by impairing appearance, speech, swallowing, and taste. The oral cancer treatment market is projected to reach nearly USD 5 billion by 2033. OSCC represents ca. 90% of oral cancers, with most cases diagnosed late, leading to high metastasis, recurrence, and a poor five-year survival rate. This invention proposes a hydrogel that enables treatment of both local and metastatic OSCC.
