Folate-Functionalized Microgels for Targeted Delivery in Triple-Negative Breast Cancer

Introduction: Cancer is one of the most prevalent diseases worldwide [1], Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) lacks ER, PR, and HER2 expression, limiting targeted therapies and contributing to poor prognosis[2], the treatment is usually complicated mainly due to problems such as side effects, nonspecificity, and toxicity of current treatments . Nanoparticles functionalized with folic acid can exploit folate receptor overexpression in TNBC, improving drug selectivity and reducing systemic toxicity [3] . This work develops folate-modified microgels as a platform for receptor-mediated delivery of antineoplastic drugs.
