Introduction: In vitro release testing of long-acting injectable (LAI) microspheres relies on USP methods that are low-throughput, material-intensive, and not optimized for early formulation screening. These constraints limit the rapid comparison of polymer chemistry, drug loading, and particle release rates. We developed an automated platform specifically designed for high-throughput evaluation of microsphere payload in vitro release kinetics.
Learning Objectives:
Describe the limitations of USP release testing for LAI microspheres
Explain principles of automated high-throughput release screening
Evaluate the benefits of parallel release profiling for formulation design
