María Javiera Alvarez-Figueroa is a professor of the School of Pharmacy of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile
Her research focuses on the passage of molecules through membranes, specializing in skin absorption. She has studied iontophoresis and microemulsion systems as promoters of transdermal absorption. In recent years, she has investigated nonaencapsulation as a system for promoting the passage of molecules through simulated membranes using the in vitro PAMPA technique and biological membranes, through ex vivo studies using neonatal pig skin.
