Since the number of approved biologics in the EU is steadily increasing, reaching an all-time high in 2025, there is a huge interest in improving the formulation of those hydrophilic macromolecules 1. Due to limited stability and tissue penetration, nowadays they are mainly administered by injection.
Infliximab (IFX), a common therapy option for inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), suffers from a loss of response over time2. To address this, a coated crosslinker-free gelatin nanoparticle (cGNP) system is developed to enable oral or rectal application, aiming to reduce dose, systemic side effects and enhance compliance.
