Monoclonal antibodies such as adalimumab, are highly effective therapeutics for a range of diseases, yet their administration remains limited to injections, posing challenges for patient comfort and adherence [1]. Oral delivery of biologics is hindered by enzymatic degradation and poor epithelial permeability in the gastrointestinal tract [1,2]. The BIONDD® technology is a novel oral drug delivery combination product, designed to deliver biologics directly into the gastric wall, bypassing traditional absorption barriers (Figure 1) [3]. In this study, we evaluated the BIONDD® for oral delivery of adalimumab in beagle dogs, with subcutaneous (s.c.) injection as reference.
