Liposomes facilitated the delivery of small molecules, proteins, and nucleic acids and provide several benefits over conventional drug delivery systems (1, 2). One of the primary challenges of liposomes is understanding the key characteristics that influence their behaviour. Numerous studies have explored how liposomes affect various aspects of the delivery. However, the complex relationship between the disassembly of carrier and the drug release still requires further investigation. In this research, we integrated the disassembly of doxorubicin loaded PEGylated liposomes (Caelyx® and TLD) and lipid exchange mechanism with their subsequent drug release under various in vitro conditions.
