Cancer is a significant global health burden, demanding new therapeutic strategies (1). The scientific community continuously seeks alternatives, from new drugs to novel delivery systems. Rifamycin, an antibiotic that inhibits RNA synthesis, presents potential as a cytotoxic agent (2). Liposomes, as well-established and biocompatible drug delivery platforms, can incorporate diverse drugs. Thus, our goal was to investigate rifamycin cytotoxic activity towards cancer cell lines in 2D and 3D models, using liposomes as delivery system.
