Introduction: Polyethylene vinyl acetate (PEVA) is investigated as carrier polymer for long-acting drug delivery. However, low release rates can limit its applicability for some drugs (1). The addition of lactose can increase drug release rate by acting as a pore-former (2). This study aims to evaluate the potential of drug release acceleration by lactose addition into a PEVA-matrix implant.
Learning Objectives:
Understanding of acceleration mechanism of lipophilic drug via hydrophilic additive in PEVA-matrix.
