Introduction: The potential for mRNA therapeutics holds much more promise to deliver, such as cancer treatments (e.g. CAR-T) and gene editing for treating diseases (e.g. CRISPR). These all are enabled by nano-delivery systems for targeted and controlled delivery. However, there are significant challenges to pass through clinical trials, mostly stemming from not understanding the complexity of your formulation during scale-up. For active targeted formulations, this is additionally more complex by attaching targeting moieties to the surface. These challenges require novel tools to deal with the sub-populations within formulations and to also understand their behaviour in the body via the protein corona.
