Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disorder characterised by elevated oxidative stress (1). Baicalin exhibits well-documented antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity but suffers from poor aqueous solubility, low skin permeability, and limited topical bioavailability (2). This study aimed to rationally design an essential oil-based nano-phytogel using rosemary oil as a functional lipid excipient to enhance baicalin stability, cutaneous delivery, and therapeutic performance in inflammatory skin conditions (Fig. 1a).
