Introduction: Cancer is a major public health problem and an increasing worldwide death cause. Its most common treatments are systemic chemotherapy and radiotherapy which have several limitations including unpredictable and ineffective outcomes, toxicity to healthy tissues, long-term nefarious side effects to patients’ quality of life, expensive multi-therapeutic approaches for treatments as well as management of concurrent side effects, necessity of multiple dosing strategies due to lack of targeted applications and low therapeutic drug concentrations at tumor sites (1).
